A Brief Introduction

This mp3 list of John Peel links is made possible through the efforts of the many Peel loving, record buying, home tapers. Thanks also to Google etc. for finding these for me/you.

Thankfully they had the presence of mind to stock up up thin strips of ferric and metal coated magnetic tape encased in plastic and would procede to locate themselves next to a nearby radio receiver for approximately forty minutes before peering nervously at the little twitching cassette hoping never to be beaten by the great leader tape of doom.

This site, well single page at the moment, is very much a work-in-progress. It is likely to look a little different, odd and on some occasions may break completely. I do have a final goal in mind but it's database driven and I'm going to be experimenting with various software packages over time. Ruby On Rails is likely to be first. This you're looking at now is the default "Oh-fuck-what-have-I-done?" page that will almost have nothing in common with the final build. One thing is guaranteed though, it'll be crammed with more Peel info than you can shake a stick at, if indeed that's the sort of thing you like to get up to. I'm in no hurry so don't expect anything overnight but the end result should be worth it I think.

Many of these fine upstanding folk can be found lurking among and around the list of top John Peel sites below. All these files were working at time of posting. Almost certainly. You may feel inclined to make mirrors of these downloads. Whether by zip, rar, torrent, mp3, flac or wav you could help these files spread far and wide so people can hear how music radio really should sound.
